Context

UM6P Global Hubs – France is the first international branch of Université Mohammed VI Polytechnique, based in Morocco. A pioneering leader in AI in Africa, UM6P positions itself as a Euro-African hub connecting research, innovation, and education, with strong priorities around sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, health, and artificial intelligence.

Within UM6P Global Hubs – France, Hasnae Chami leads cross-functional market intelligence covering several information-intensive topics, such as hydrogen, batteries, regenerative agriculture, and emerging technologies. This market intelligence feeds various internal departments through biweekly newsletters and targeted analyses.

Challenges

Given large volumes of information and often highly technical subject matter, the curation phase represented a particularly time-consuming part of the market intelligence process. The difficulty lay not only in collecting content, but also in quickly identifying genuinely relevant articles among multilingual and highly diverse sources.

The goal was therefore to save time on sorting, reading, and qualifying information, in order to devote more time to strategic analysis and to delivering value for internal teams.

Market intelligence setup with Sindup

In this context, UM6P Global Hubs – France trialed several AI features available in Sindup to automate certain stages of curation. Three main AI processes were implemented: automatic scoring of articles based on their level of relevance, the addition of thematic tags to facilitate content pre-sorting, and automatic summarization and translation of articles.

These automations streamline information processing and eliminate the need to systematically open each piece of content to assess its relevance. The summaries generated directly within the platform make it easier to analyze technical content or material written in multiple European languages.

Results

The trials conducted by UM6P Global Hubs – France delivered an estimated time savings of 20% to 30% on certain curation and reading steps. The summarization, translation, and scoring features in particular helped focus attention on the content the AI identified as most relevant.

Beyond the operational gains, this approach allows time to be reallocated to higher-value activities, such as strategic analysis, interpreting weak signals, and supporting decision-making.

Hasnae Chami also highlights the value of AI processing in improving reading flow in an international, multilingual market intelligence context, while maintaining human oversight over the final selection of content.

Case study presented at I-Expo

This case study was presented at the I-Expo trade show, during a panel discussion on the use of AI in market intelligence professions.

During the session, Hasnae Chami shared how the automations implemented in Sindup are progressively transforming curation work by combining intelligent filtering, categorization, and reading assistance. She particularly emphasized that AI does not replace the analyst, it allows them to focus more on the core of their role: making sense of strategic information.

Outlook

UM6P Global Hubs – France continues to experiment with automation and AI use cases applied to market intelligence. Tests are also underway involving APIs and automated workflows, with the goal of eventually developing more advanced systems for accessing and leveraging information.

The ambition is to build a market intelligence process that is more fluid, more scalable, and more deeply integrated with future AI applications in higher education and research.
